Terminal Objective

This is more than a Fellowship. We will produce a fully trained / educated hyperbaric practitioner with the depth and breathe of experience meeting or exceeding every other fellowship trained practitioner without the one-year off-line requirement of a traditional fellowship.

Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine

40-hour introductory course of instruction

  • Narcosis experience through 165 fsw dives
  • Monoplace operational experience
  • Multiplace operational experience
  • Online and interactive pre-course work
  • Extramural exam 

Diving and Theoretical Discussions 

40 hours of didactics

Instruction includes fitness-to-dive physical examinations and theoretical discussions about diving as it relates to:

  • Technical diving
  • Extended-range diving
  • Saturation diving
  • Diving shams and treatments
  • Online and interactive pre-course work
  • Exam

Safety and Technical Director Training

40 hours of didactics

Training includes:

  • Hyperbaric center safety
  • Technical director responsibilities
  • Wound care
  • Discussion of specific cases
  • Online and interactive pre-course work
  • Extramural exam

This combination course is taught in conjunction with the Medical Engineering Department at the University of South Florida through its online learning initiative and includes a Florida state-approved course number.

Program Manager Training and Board Exam

40 hours of didactics

Training includes:

  • Hyperbaric program management
  • Comprehensive board examination review
  • Five-hour, 300-question exam
  • Online and interactive pre-course work
  • Extramural board exam
