Mission
The International Board of Undersea Medicine (IBUM) exists to provide quality education to the diving, hyperbaric, and medical communities. We offer training and credentials consistent with the current standard of care in the field of diving and hyperbaric medicine. We are also an advocate and provide continuing education in the area of undersea and hyperbaric medicine as well as recompression chamber and facility maintenance ensuring that these services are available to all that would benefit from them. We further exist to be a resource for current information, utilizing our network of members who work in the field and serve as a platform for new ideas and concepts in the area of diving and hyperbaric medicine.
Vision
In its next decade of service, IBUM will lead the industry in sophisticated hyperbaric outpatient care facility establishment and maintenance certificates. We are all responsible for taking great care of our customers and ensuring their patients are in safer operational recompression chambers within adequate treatment facilities staffed with the most knowledgeable operations staff.
Ethos
At IBUM we recognize the value of every person as well as the healing potential of the hyperbaric environment. We are guided by our commitment to excellence and serving those in need. We demonstrate this by:
- Providing superior knowledge of hyperbaric facility maintenance and establishment criteria along with superb training in chamber operation as well as hyperbaric physician and clinical hyperbaric technician training.
- Provide seed funding for innovative treatment protocols with a staff of industry-leading talent whose purpose is to cure the whole body.
- Building and maintaining a working environment where each person is well trained, valued, respected, and has an opportunity for personal and professional growth
- Advancing excellence in outpatient health services education and care through the use of online continuing education.
- By setting the highest standards in education, service, reliability, safety, concern and cost containment in the outpatient hyperbaric health care industry we will be able to fully realize our Mission, Vision and Ethos together.
